Prague’s legendary club Wakata is closing down at the end of the month. Wakata was a well established alternative underground club in the city. It was enriching the club scene in Prague since 1996. I remember so many great parties in this place as a DJ and also as a visitor of this place. It’s unique chilled out atmosphere and interior design will be a huge lost for the Prague’s club scene…

Existence of a music club does no longer fit with the business plan of the house owners, they claimed that they no longer wish to have a music club or a bar in their house. Therefore this is the last month when you can experience the unique vibe of this place. Don’t miss it out!

During the last month of it’s existence you can bid in Wakata auction, where the club is selling off it’s unique design equipment – eg. Painting by Tokyo (pattern for the club’s logo), which was painted in one of the first Kick The Shit videos (legendary Prague’s graffiti video), the DJ console or maybe a bar stool called “drtikulka”. Few pieces from the auction can be found here.

Hope that the owners will find a new place and don’t give it up. The club will always remain indelibly inscribed in our memories as one of the major bars of the post-communist Prague’s club scene. We would like to thank the whole Wakata team for the great space and unforgettable gigs. RIP Wakata.
